Rita Aizehi Aimiuwu Oguntoyimbo
Mrs. Rita Aizehi Aimiuwu Oguntoyimbo was born on 16th January,1956. She is from Benin City, in Edo South. She holds a Higher National Diploma from the Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State. She joined the World Health Organisation (WHO) as Personal Assistant to the WHO Representative and the Officer in charge of Travels in 1984. She is presently the Head, Travel and Protocol Unit at the Head Quarters of the World Health Organisation in Nigeria.

Mrs. Oguntoyinbo is a member of several charity groups, including the UN Women’s Guild and the Edo Ladies Advisory Group’ She founded Amen Health Care and Empowerment Foundation in 2004, with the aim of reducing morbidity and mortality resulting from needless and preventable deaths, particularly in the rural areas.

Since the inception of Amen Foundation, they have provided Free Medical Care for 22 Communities in Edo and Lagos States. A total of 11,826 people have been screened for hypertension, diabetes, arthritis, HIV/AIDS, cervical cancer, Prostrate cancer, cataract, etc. presently, the foundation is in collaboration with the university of benin teaching hospital in conducting free cataract surgeries for the needy, three times a week.

So far, 710 people have benefited from the free cataract surgery. The foundation has been conducting free cancer screenings since thhe year 2008. Mrs. Rita Aizehi Aimiuwu Oguntoyinbo has received many awards, including:

  • Distinguished Woman of Our Time, 2006- by the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ)
  • Gold Merit Award, 2006, - by the Nigerian Medical Association, Edo State
  • Award for Health Care Services to the Edo Indigenes, 2007 – by the Edo-Delta union of the Pacific NW, Seattle, USA
  • Award of Excellency in Recognition of Invaluable contributions in the area of Women’s Health and Empowerment, 2008, - by the office of Her Excellency and the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Edo State.
